Rabbi Einhorn Shares Rosh Hashanah Greetings with LAPD Wilshire Division
ByIn honor of Rosh Hashanah, the beginning of the new Jewish year of 5777, Yavneh Hebrew Academy delivered a traditional festive Rosh Hashanah meal to the LAPD Wilshire Division this past Thursday, September 29th. The police dined on traditional foods including brisket, chicken, potato kugel and tzimmes from Western Kosher, and apple strudel and honey cake desserts from Schwartz’s Bakery.
Rabbi Shlomo Einhorn, Rabbi and Dean of Yavneh Hebrew Academy, shared a large Rosh Hashanah card signed by Yavneh students with the officers and staff on duty and thanked the police for keeping the community safe. He blew shofar for the police and answered questions about the holiday and the food.
Over the course of the day, close to 100 police officers partook of the festive meal, some coming back for seconds and thirds. The police particularly enjoyed the potato kugel – a new delicacy for most of them – and the apple strudel, which some hoped to take home.
